AIR TRAVEL
The new Athens Airport, Eleftherios Venizelos, located in Spata has been operating since March 2001 and is both modern and efficient. At times, traffic towards the airport causes problems but, as more roads are completed, the problem should be alleviated.

Service within the airport is efficient particularly with regard to foreign airline carriers. It is common knowledge that the Greek National Airline, Olympic Airways, experiences problems, usually due to volume of traffic or to strikes but this is not indicative of the airport in general.

You can reach the airport by taxi or car using the Attiki Odos (the new motorway that has been built to service the airport) or by an Express Bus Service.

There are three Express Service buses running to the airport - E94 from Ethnikis Aminas metro station, E95 from Syntagma and E96 from Piraeus. These buses pick up passengers at designated stops along their respective routes (call us for specific stop details) but no passengers may alight before the airport. The E95 and E96 buses run 24 hours a day. The E94 bus runs between 7:30am and 11:30pm. Fares for this particular service are as follows: €2.90 (valid for 24 hours for one airport journey plus any additional travel on any kind of public transport within the Athens area). All buses arrive and depart form the Arrivals level of the Main Terminal building immediately outside the Schengen exit (between doors 4 & 5)

If you intend to leave your car at the airport you should note the following:

Short term car park: First 20 minutes free of charge
€ 2.90 - up to 1 hour
€ 2.10 - for each additional hour
€ 25.50 - over 12 hours / daily charge

Long term car park:

€ 2.90 - up to 1 hour
€ 5.00 - up to 2 hours
€ 7.00 - up to 3 hours
€ 10.00 - over 3 hours / daily charge

Parking is paid for at one of the electronic pay machines located in all the parking areas. Upon inserting your entrance ticket into the machine, the system will indicate the amount of time spent in the car park and display the proper tariff due. You can pay by cash or by credit card. Once you have paid you have 15 minutes to leave the car park.

If you have parked in the Long Term Car Park, you can either walk to the terminal buildings using the pedestrian bridge (10 minutes approx) or take the shuttle bus that has regular pick-ups at 6 bus stops in the parking lot. The ride takes approx 5 minutes. The shuttle buses are equipped with a wheelchair ramp and assistance is available if required.

The airport itself has good shops, restaurants, a post office (Arrivals Hall: 7am-9pm), pharmacy (Arrivals Hall), banking facilities, cash machines, baggage storage (Arrivals Hall). There are adequate rest rooms, lounges and services for the disabled. There are two terminals (Main and Satellite) and the airport has been built on three levels: -1: under-ground link 0: Arrivals Hall 1: Departures Hall. It should be noted that you need to walk for at least 20 minutes to reach the Satellite terminal and this should be taken into account when estimating the time you need to reach your departure gate. The tunnel to the Satellite Terminal is equipped with travelators, and electric vehicles are available for passengers who require assistance.
